Assalamu Alaykum Sisters,
All-Girls Swimming is coming up shortly–You ready?
We’d like to make one brief clarification though:
For those of you coming this Saturday July 24th (12-3 pm), the pool is in Cooke Hall but you have to go through the University of Minnesota Rec Center to get there, NOT Cooke Hall or the Aquatic Center. Tell the front desk at the Rec Center that you are there for women only swimming in Cooke 10 and they will direct you from there. You have to go through the women’s locker room, all the way to the back, then through a long hallway to get to the pool. Stay covered as you go through the hall because it is open to men as well. Once you get to the pool you may feel free to uncover.
The closest parking to the Rec Center is the Washington Avenue Ramp and the University Avenue Parking Ramp. Check out this link for a map of the area. If you get lost feel free to call us at 651.468-7585.

Assalamu Alaykum Girls,
Heat, humidity, and the warmth of our Hijabs can sometimes be overwhelming. Perhaps it’s time for a little summer splash at the pool! Join us for an All-Girls swimming series at the University of Minnesota, Cooke Hall-Pool 10: 1900 University Ave. SE Minneapolis, MN 55455. Swimming is free, all thanks to Building Blocks, but you will have to pay for parking…
For ramp info and locations, contact the U of M Parking & Transportation Services: 612-626-7275 OR contact one of us: 651-468-7585. If you wish to carpool, let us know in advance! A few sisters will be meeting at Masjid Al-Huda to carpool to the university campus, Insha’Allah.
SWIMMING DATES/TIMES:
Thursday, July 8th from 6-8pm
Saturday, July 17th from 12-3pm
Saturday, July 24th from 12-3pm
Saturday, July 31st from 12-3pm
Saturday, August 7th from 12-3pm
That’s all the swimming we’ll have before the coming of Ramadan.
So go ahead, prepare your towels and swimming gear and we hope to see you all there Insha’Allah!!!

Sisters Leadership Class

Assalamu Alaykum All,
Aside from our BB4Muslimas Youth efforts, there are plenty of other youth activities taking place in affiliation with Mosques and Organizations around the community–one being the all-new Sisters Leadership Classes! Masjid Dar Al-Farooq is hosting this series as part of their Funsational Camp program this summer. So register as soon as you can by contacting Sr. Lemiya and Sr. Aryati at www.daralfarooq.org :: The classes will be held every Saturday, from 9:45am to 1pm (Leadership Section) and evey Thursday, from 7pm to 8pm (Fitness Section). The cost to become a participant of this series of classes i $100 per person, so hope you can make it! Check out the flyer below for more information.
To clarify, BB4Muslimas Youth is not the host for this event, but in an effort to work collaboratively with other Mosques/Organizations in our community, we would like to invite you all to participate in such an amazing opportunity Insha’Allah!

Community Sports Day–You’re Invited!

Summer can be a drain without the occasional sports gathering, correct?
So…
For all you Muslimas–the athletic, the beginning jogger, the yoga master, the weight lifter, and even the couch potatoes out there–we have great news: We’re inviting YOU to our Community Sports Day!!! The details? Building Blocks is hosting this community event at Huset Park on Saturday, July 10th from 11am to 7pm. We will set up cricket and soccer for the brothers, and volleyball and soccer for the sisters Insha’Allah. Check out the flyer below for more information:
The fees are as follows:
- $7 :: For team t-shirt, food and game
- $5 :: If you bring your own uniform (must be a uniform, not just a random t-shirt)
- $3 :: If you want to play a second sport (like you signed up to play soccer but you also want to play volleyball)
If you would like to form your own group of players, call your friends along and sign up here–We can make a set of team t-shirts specialized just for you, Insha’Allah. So come represent your local Masjid/Muslim Organization and compete with your fellow Muslims for the trophy prize (presented to the winners by our very own Shuyookh)! All refreshments, foods, sports equipment and T-Shirts are included with the entrance fee. So what are you waiting for? Contact youth@thebuildingblocks.org with your name and age or, if you would prefer to contact Building Blocks through the Muslima Youth Team, send the information to bb4muslimas@gmail.com and we’ll register you for the tournament, Insha’Allah.
This is an open event to Muslims (men, women, children, etc) of all ages, so share the information of this even with friends and family; we hope to see you there!
